Today, I got a mail from a frequent reader of my blog – a person whom I respect a lot, and whose opinions I always take into serious consideration.
The tone of his (alright, it’s a HE, all you nosey parkers!
) voice didn’t have the friendly and brotherly warmth, this time. There was a subtle note of anger juxtaposed with a suitable sense of derision – and all his words were directed at just one point – the plummeting quality of content in my blog.
Alright, I can argue that this is my blog, and I can write whatever I like without considering my readers – but, that’s the last thing I’d EVER do! Because, readers are my motivation! I’d die without comments
And that’s exactly what keeps fuelling my passion to write more and more…
Yet, in the light of my dismal credit rating, I had to take some dire measures and work against my . In a way, I sold myself, my imagination, my words – for money (in United States’ Dollars, nonetheless). My mind flooded with remorse, for every such non-passionate action of mine here, my heart bled. I tried to cover up, but in vain.
And his mail was the last nail in the coffin.
I request all of you with folded arms and tears in my eyes, to bare with me. No, I can’t guarantee a total full stop to the kind of crap I’ve been sh!tting here, but I promise you – sunny days aren’t far away. The strongest arrow in my quiver – my brain, is still agile, and as long as time shall be with me, I shall write.
And I shall improve, and bring a smile to your face.
P.S.
This post was borne out of a bout of depression. I might’ve gone overboard with emotions, but that’s poor ol’ me. Apologies over this hugely digressed-apology!

Never mind, keep blogging
Taking a break is not a bad thing, though, at times…..over active brains may need reformatting at regular intervals
And yes, don’t forget to revisit your own posts
@ Abhilash:
Honoured by your comment, sir!
You’re absolutely right! And I’m trying to make the best out of my old posts, so as to reformat myself and bring out refreshing content.
Pottaliya. Bouts of depression pass. Nee desp aavathe! Cheers, urgu.
I am not sure if its the right post to say it, anyways, pls don’t take offense.
Actually, people (other than those who know your personally) like reading about them rather than about yourself. Write for them and about them instead of your life. In other words, write about your life in a way that’s useful to the others.
Just don’t feel bad about the email you got. You don’t have to make everyone happy to succeed. On the internet if just 5% of the people like you, are a MEGA success
Cheer up!
@ urgu:
Thanks man
It passed, and it’s over!
@ Arun:
You’ve a point there, man.
I started writing, just to satisfy myself, and when I realized people’ve started reading it too… I became dedicated to the task.
Thanks buddy! >:D<
@Arun: I kind of do not agree when you say “write for them than about yourself”. Even when people express their thoughts and views and day to day happenings, the reader gets connected to them. The quality of writing is also visible in such posts.
A personal blog also helps, i suppose..
Though I agree, you cannot be problogger or earn money by just writing personal blogs. But it could be a start. He can always start another category or section or even a new blog for blogging professionally! Maybe just like you!
@ Archana:
You’ve mentioned a valid point.
Personally, I love personal blogs more – and I love personal posts myself!
@ Archana:
Of course, if its a personal blog, writing about yourself is what it is supposed to do. Hari want to be a pro, so I thought that tip would help.
I do follow a lot of personal blogs, but then all the authors are my friends. I have planned the launch of my per. blog for my birthday in September
@ Arun:
I must read your personal blog!!
Wow!!
Trust me on this dude. The blog is as much for you as it for your readers. So you very well can use it to give vent to all your feelings and the entertainment part can always wait.
@ Aravind:
I guess you are a living breathing example.
True man, true.
Thanks a ton, buddy!! >:D<
Hari, you’re too young to understand the word ‘depression’. After all yours is a good blog me and many of my friends like to read. I’ve been following yours ever since the Tharoor article you wrote which was more than impressive. I couldn’t comment there because I had issues with my Open ID then.
So when I tell yours is one of the better ones around, there isn’t a tinge of flattery in that. See, being consistent in blogosphere for the past 3 years itself is an achievement…a big achievement. yes!
So move on there, and keep typing out whatever you feel. I think blogs give you enough freedom for expressing your thoughts without the erasers and scissors from any editors.
@ Scorpiogenius:
>:D< Thanks a trillion bro!! You made my day, really.
I was going through another bout of depression for a very different reason altogether, but now… I’m a new person.
Thanks, thanks a bunch for the kind words. Makes a lot of depression, especially when it comes from you.
And yeah, I’ve been following your blog since God-knows-when.
